Opportunity Knocks! For a professional gardener and a professional carpenter in NC.

Opportunity for a professional gardener:

There is an interest in the Durham & Winston Salem areas in attracting a professional gardener to a great project.  We have two locations, one here in Winston (Manara) and one in Durham than could support a serious market gardener.  Both locations have up to an acre of sunny land which could be used for intensive bed culture.  Both locations are proximate to downtown restaurants, farmers markets, etc.  Manara is blocks away from a vibrant farmers market. Terms could be very favorable and may include a living unit, free use of the land, and in the case of the Durham location, potential shared ownership.  Both are adjacent to the respective Subud houses. This would be good for a new graduate from a program like UC Santa Cruz horticulture, or the like.  The right person would be a go-getter with some type of demonstrable track record in this field and preferably also a Subud member.  Both locations are college towns with low cost of living, abundant cultural amenities, close access to the NC mountains, and the ocean, and an ambient culture that is friendly, welcoming, and tolerant.  Both locations are blessed with a lot of active Subud Youth.  In both locations the market for fresh organic produce is increasing and not apparently over-supplied.  I would venture a lot to bring the right person here to do this work.   – Matthew Ward, Manara, matthew.ward2@jacobs.com Ph: (512) 406-1255

Opportunity for a professional Carpenter
There is an interest in the Winston-Salem, NC area in attracting a professional carpenter to a great project.  Manara, a Subud enterprise specializing in housing rentals, is spinning off a company which will design and build tiny houses.  Manara is in the process of equipping a 15 X 30 foot wood shop which will be used to fabricate architectural elements for tiny houses.  The tiny houses will be assembled in the adjacent yard.  We would like to attract a skilled carpenter to be a partner in this enterprise, lead construction, and manage one or two helpers.  Currently, we have contracts for three tiny houses to be built over the next two years, and tentative sales on five more, thereafter.  Depending on the design originality and success of our Manara tiny house brand, we may eventually expand the shop to a larger building and recruit additional workers.  The right person would be a Subud member and have experience in fine carpentry with complex geometry, for example building ships or other curvy structures.  Experience in operating and maintaining woodshop equipment, especially computerized plywood cutting table would be a plus.  Winston-Salem is a medium sized college town with a low cost of living, abundant cultural amenities, close access to the NC mountains, and the ocean, and an ambient culture that is friendly, welcoming, and tolerant.  Please contact us if you know of someone who might be a good fit for this opportunity
